Buddy is a pretty awesome dog… Maybe I’ll post the photo of him leaping to get his toy next…
Mish on the left has black hair with purple streaks, and Katherine has white hair with a soft purple tint.
Took this at night atop Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The stars were absolutely amazing. I was attempting to capture the milky way but it didn’t go as planned. My hands were nearly froze off trying to capture these images. That is not an exaggeration.
Saw this little girl playing with her menu and I just thought she was super adorable and had to get a photo of her.
I took this during the last full moon. It was pretty amazing, I don’t think I captured it’s complete awesomeness but none-the-less it still is a pretty amazing.
My local barista has the coolest mini-cooper AND a really sweet license plate. Believe it or not, I captured this on my iPhone with the Camerabag app. This is an infrared image.
I can’t wait for the Big Island again this weekend. Last year was fun. In this photo you can see how high I am. Approximately 14,000ft. It was absolutely beautiful. You can see on one of the hills people hiking up and snowboarding down. Here, boogie boards turn into sleds. It’s a trip that during […]
The photo above is probably my most famous photo. Everyday it gets favorited on flickr at least 4-5 times. Comments continually. Everything about this photo is pretty amazing. The contrast of the trees, the lighting, the shading. This photo is an HDR (High Dynamic Range). Basically three photos all at different exposures put into one.
Lately, I have been working with film more and more. One thing that I love about film is it’s ability to be completely unpredictable. The photo above is of my friend Lindsea and how it turned out is completely an accident. Not sure exactly what happened but I love how it looks. Feels very creepy.
Last Sunday I attended a Hawaii Strobist Meetup. It was primarily a workshop on how to effectively use lighting. We had two models, one was actually one of the photographer’s girlfriend. You can see more photos from the workshop here.

Kaveh is a great photographer. His work with lighting and models is some of the best I’ve seen.

This is my friend Susie. She recently graduated from HPU and this is her cigar of celebration. I love Susie, she’s a very good friend of mine and an excellent photographer.
Love the paint and how it works with the models facial features… Ok, just kidding. She’s hot. Do I need more of a reason? This shot was especially difficult considering it was at night and the indoor lighting was “Gallery” lighting meaning it was very dim. I used my old school 35mm lens at f/2. […]
The Hawaiian word kapu is usually translated as “forbidden”. In ancient Hawaii, kapu refers to the ancient system of laws and regulations. An offense that was kapu was often a corporal offense, but also often denoted a threat to spiritual power, or theft of mana. Kapus were strictly enforced. Breaking one, even unintentionally, often meant […]
