Wintertime in Rochester Area…

I took this photo for a reason, when I was standing outside during this snowstorm in single digit degree weather and saw this scene, it was how I felt. It looked to me how Rochester seems to me now. Cold, lonely feeling I get from this photo is the same feelings I have about living here.

However, I had a great time going out and snapping a few photos before freezing. I spent about 15 minutes at a place called Sodus Point and then about 30 minutes at Irondequoit Bay.

Here you can see the lighthouse in the distance.

Here you can see the duck and swan prints in the ice floating in the bay. I find it quite beautiful.

I can’t believe there birds this late into winter. I was under the impression that all ducks, swans, and other animals like that migrated south.

Here on the beach sand mixes with snow, giving an interesting texture as well as layers of contrasting colors.

This is my favorite photo of the day. Notice the water dripping off the swan’s neck. This photo speaks to me.

Thanks Amber 🙂 Despite the ridiculous temperatures the snow helps to make everything so simple, softening shapes and changes the colors of the environment.
